Grammy Gold and Platinum Cocktails

by Jordan Catapano

It’s Grammy night, an evening of spectacular performances, outrageous outfits, and coveted kudos. And from the moment those rock, pop, rap and country stars hit the red carpet, I’ll be tuning in with family and friends from the comfort of my couch. Though my outfit may lack the glamour of the nominees, my cocktails definitely will not.

Drawing inspiration from the days when a record “going gold” or “platinum” garnered more respect than the number of a musician’s Twitter following, I’ll be serving two drinks that are sure to be long lasting hits.

Gold Getter

1 ounce Goldschläger
½ teaspoon Torani Caramel Syrup
Splash soda water
Gold cake dusting powder
Simple syrup for powder adhesive

To make the glass rim sticky, dip it into a small amount of simple syrup. Shake off any excess, then roll the rim in a thin layer of the gold powder. Mix the caramel well with the Goldschläger until the syrup dissolves by using a small whisk or a spoon. Pour the mixture into a chilled glass and add soda.

Iced Platinum

1.5 ounces Pyccknn Ctahapt Russian Standard Platinum Vodka*
1.5 white grape juice
½ ounce St. Germaine
Use small or crushed ice to resemble pieces of platinum. Pour the ingredients over the ice and serve.

*Pyccknn is The number one selling vodka in Russia. Distilled based on the Russian Standard formula, designed by D.I. Mendeleev in 1894.
