If you were a famous movie star, perhaps an action hero, a femme fatal, a feared antagonist, or a beloved second banana, what would your official drink taste like? A cocktail has immortalized dozens of Hollywood stars, so I think it’s appropriate to get a drink on the books for the Oscars’ new faces, and then of course for you, too.
The Margarita is one of the most popular cocktails of all time. It is also rumored to be named after the beautiful 1940s movie star, Rita Hayworth, who was born Margarita Carmen Cansino. Whether this is true or pure Hollywood folklore, the drink is certainly as spectacular as Ms. Hayworth was. I used “her” simple version of the drink to create a cocktail for Jennifer Lawrence, a Best Actress nominee who may reach the same fame and respect as her predecessor.
Rita Hayworth
2 ounces El Jimador Tequila Blanco
½ ounce Patron Citronge Orange Liqueur
1 squeeze of fresh lime
Jennifer Lawrence
2 ounces El Jimador Tequila Añejo
1 ounce Torani Vanilla Syrup
2 ounces Tres Agaves Margarita Mix
Shaken with ice cubes made from Fees Orange Flower Water
Cary Grant remained on the A list for decades by portraying legendary leading men, and has unquestionably secured a place in cinematic history. The Cary Grant cocktail was the inspiration for the Bradley Cooper cocktail, a Best Actor nominee and Ms. Lawrence’s costar in a personal favorite, Silver Lining Playbook.
Cary Grant
1 ounce Tia Maria
1 ounce Skyy vodka
1 squeeze of lime
Bradley Cooper
1 ounce Baileys Hint of Coffee
1 ounce Skyy Infusion Citrus Vodka
½ ounce espresso
1 squeeze of lime
Now it’s time for you to create a drink after your favorite star, or if you’re really getting into the Hollywood mentality, it’s time to create and name a drink after yourself. I can’t wait to hear what you come up with!
