Favorite Tequila Cocktails to try

by Jordan Catapano

Do you have a favorite tequila that you’re fiercely loyal to? I’m referring to a level of devotion so high that you’d actually forgo the drink you wanted rather than break your allegiance to “your” tequila?  Don’t worry –you’re not alone. However, I will venture to say that you may be missing a chance to discover something new, or dare I say better.

So this week, take the Try-A-New-Tequila challenge and explore a few different brands. I’ll even make it easy for you to start your research with these three, delicious tequila-based cocktails. Worst thing that can happen is you become even more committed to your preferred tequila, or that you direct a giant, “see I told you so” in my direction. Either way, I’m interested to hear what you’ve tried, what you like, and what you love.

Strawberry Coconut Margarita

2 ounces el Jimador Tequila Blanco
2 ounces coconut juice with pulp
1 ounce Cointreau
1 ½ cups frozen strawberries

Add all of the ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth. Pour into a glass with a salted or sugared rim.

Mexican Mule

2 ounces el Jimador Anejo
2 ounces ginger ale
1 teaspoon fresh ginger juice
Squeeze of lime

For small amounts of ginger juice, I peel the ginger root and put small amounts into a garlic press. After a few squeezes you’ll have enough for a few of these drinks.

Tequila Sunrise

2 ounces el Jimador Reposado
2 ounces orange juice
1 teaspoon grenadine
