Refreshing Cucumber Lime and Orange Carrot Cocktails
Juicing is all the rage right now. Everywhere I go in Los Angeles I can spot someone carrying around a cup of freshly squeezed fruits and vegetables. At first, I thought they were crazy to spend money to drink spinach, but I was so wrong. There are many delicious and creative combinations of juices – and I’m determined to try them all. I may be new to this craze, but I have to admit that in the short time since my juicer arrived on my doorstep, I have become obsessed. I drink beet juice with kale, apple with spinach, and cucumber with ginger. They’re all delicious.
I quickly learned that juicing is an amazing way to start the day. And lately, I’ve learned that juice can also be a great way to enjoy an evening.
Here are two recipes for my favorite juicing cocktails. I have a Hurom Slow Juicer, but you can use any juicer.
Cucumber Lime Cocktail
3 persian cucumbers or one regular cucumber
½ lime
1 large fuji apple
1 shot Kettle One Vodka
Wash produce thoroughly. Cut into small pieces and juice. Stir in vodka. Makes two drinks.
Orange Carrot Cocktail
2 celery stalks
3 small carrots
1 orange
half lemon
1 fuji apple
1 shot Sauza Anejo Conmemorativo Tequila
Wash produce thoroughly. Cut into small pieces and juice. Stir in tequila. Makes 2 to 3 drinks.
