It’s been 50 years since James Bond – spy extraordinaire, ladies man and martini drinker – was created by Ian Fleming and to celebrate I’m mixing up the perfect cocktail.
My favorite new vodka is from Batch 206, a Seattle distillery known for its premium-handcrafted spirits. Produced in small batches, hand bottled and labeled, this vodka is great on its own and also makes one killer martini.
The Perfect Vodka Martini
Dry Vermouth for coating glass
2 ounces Batch 206 vodka
Ice
Green olives or lemon twist for garnish
For a “dirty” martini use a bit of the olive juice instead of the Dry Vermouth.
Directions:
Pour a little bit of dry vermouth in a chilled martini glass and swirl to lightly coat the inside, dump excess. Add vodka and ice to cocktail shaker; shake vigorously, then slowly strain vodka into the (preferably chilled) martini glass. Garnish with olives or lemon twist.
Cheerio!
